VIDEO/DVD SOURCES--Lots of people have asked where they can purchase some of Joe’s harder-to-find titles. Flesh, Trash and Heat are all available on DVD. The Criterion Collection’s Director-Approved editions of Flesh for Frankenstein and Blood for Dracula are currently out of print, though Image Entertainment has the titles in current release. Many of Joe's more obscure European titles continue to remain very difficult to track down for home purchase. We hope that changes.

A NOTE ON BOOTLEG DVDs: As many of you are discovering, there has been a surge in bootleg versions of Joe's hard-to-find European films being sold on eBay, and through other auction houses, for $20 or more a pop. Many of these are poor quality, most having been copied from shoddy VHS dubs, so buyer beware. Collectors are willing to put up with marginal quality when no other option exists, but the ease of modern day duplication technology has resulted in unfair profit for non-copyright holders hawking versions that are an insult to the original filmmakers and a disappointment to unsuspecting fans. Collector to collector selling, with up-front descriptions of quality, has always been welcome, but burning DVDs for profit and asking buyers to bid against one another for inferior product is shameful.

Please let us know via e-mail to this site if you discover a trusted vendor not listed here who is carrying one or more of Joe's European titles. The resources have dwindled in the last few years.

Raro Video
http://www.rarovideo.com/
The Italian DVD specialty house once offered a tantalizing assortment of Warhol titles for those who have the all-region DVD with PAL-conversion players to play them.
The Trilogy boxed set is still available and is reviewed in the Joe-Pourri Archive of this site. Other Warhol titles through Raro include Nude Restaurant, I, A Man, My Hustler, Vinyl, and four silents: Kiss, Blow Job, Empire and Mario Banana. These are now only available in the 11-film compilation boxed set called the Andy Warhol Anthology. Note: The Chelsea Girls suffers from an improper audio mix, resulting in some sequences which were meant to have sound playing silently and vice versa.

A Raro US site has also been launched (choose English from the two language choices you're presented with on the main page) but there are very few titles offered and none of the Morrissey or Warhol films are among them.

Joe's posing reel from the Athletic Model Guild is available as one of the extra features on the DVD version of Beefcake

And for those of you in the Pittsburgh area or planning on a visit, check out the The Andy Warhol Museum. The Museum regularly screens Warhol’s films, including The Loves of Ondine and Lonesome Cowboys.
